Because of the amount of one-on-one instruction, use of our facilities equipment and the final projects, space is very, very limited in this summer's workshops!

Songwriting Workshop

There are two sayings we like to use when it comes to songwriting:

  1. The most creative end of the pencil is the eraser
  2. The first note you ever played on your instrument and the first song you write, both have one thing in common:  You must practice to get really good!

Songwriting is a moment of blazing creativity and then honing it into a work of art.  Like any craftsman, a songwriter needs to have a well-stocked "toolbox" to work the raw creativity into a great song!  Conceived and taught by Berklee College of Music Faculty, Tom Frazee (Senior Curriculum Developer for the Berklee Songwriting Major) and Nancy Roche, Columbine Records staff singer and lyricist, this workshop gives you the tools to take any song and  develop it in many different styles.

 The fundamentals are:

  • Lyric structure, cadence and rhyme
  • Song Form
  • Melody development
  • Harmony (chords)
  • All Styles
  • The Great Songwriters: Analysis of Their Most Popular Works .

Music Technology: Using Your Computer to Make Music

Every single note of music you have heard over the last 25 years has one thing in common:  At some point, it spent some time in a computer!  From composing to recording to editing to mastering...even delivery via web-streaming, the computer has made the making & hearing of music accessable to everyone.

Learn the basics of using your computer in all aspects of making, mastering and delivery of your music. Admagination Studios (the facility where the workshops will be taught) has been a cutting edge production studio in the Treasure Valley since 1992.  Director Tom Frazee has been involved in the use of computers in music since the first Commodore 64 in 1983.  He also beta tests software for well-known companies like: Cakewalk, M-Audio, Waves, Sony Creative Software, KAB, NI, AVS and teaches on both PC and MAC.

The workshop focuses on:

The Cool Tool Music School...a Small Part of a Very Big Thing!

The Cool Tool Music School is a branch program of CCMS...Center for Contemporary Music Studies, a rapidly developing and expanding advance music education and server systems program.  CCMS has re-invented interactive on-line and on-site music education and is starting to expand into diverse markets as an SaaS...Software as a Service.  You will start to see single programs up to entire professional certifications and associates degrees offered from many different institutions, all using our unique educational model and peering server solutions.
If everything you know about on-line education was lumped together and called Education 1.0, then we would be Education 2.0

You will be learning and working in our state-of-the-art production studio.  The very same facility that has produced all the examples below as well as hundreds of projects for advertising & show clients.  Plus with an on-line multi-media classroom and production bays, everyone gets a chance to get their hands "dirty" on profession equipment.  Here's some examples of real students as well as our staff spanning a huge diversity of styles, all composed, tracked and produced right here.

Everything you hear on these demos was produced straight from our primary production computer and sung live by student or staff vocalists.  Click here for bio's and resumes of co-founders Tom Frazee & Nancy Roche (pictured to the left) and testimonials from former students
